TOUR
about
It’s the dreamy phlegmatic temperament of KARLOU that brightens the indie pop realm. The zestful project from non-binary artist, Karrie Hayward began in 2019 when they found boundless euphoria in performing pop music. A personality of charisma and quick witted humour, KARLOU’s artistry allows an opening to step into another aspect of themselves putting other’s experiences into their own story. The effervescent vocals and synth-driven production is just the leading edge of the ‘damn catchy but also hella relatable’ music that KARLOU delivers.
First beginning as a solo artist, KARLOU felt the urge to embrace the energy of live performance by bringing other musicians to the live set. Harbouring a show that engages the audience with alluring drum offs and crowd participation, KARLOU has gone on to perform at large scale events; Groovin The Moo, Riversessions, Caloundra Music Festival and Woodford Folk Festival just name a few. As well as supporting the likes of Mia Wray, Sycco, The Vanns, Sons of the East, Hope D and The Rubens for the second time, KARLOU shared the stage with their idol, New York based artist, Chelsea Cutler to sing a duet on her Australian tour. KARLOU also completed their first ever national tour in 2023 to celebrate the release of their debut EP, ‘STMF’.
The EP which was released in October, saw previous singles premiered on Triple J Unearthed and played on Triple J’s Home and Hosed with Ash McGregor. With multiple singles garnering a trove of Spotify and Apple Music editorial playlists, KARLOU’s Spotify streams for the EP clocked over 380,000 listens. Praised for the song craft, Triple J’s Drive Announcer, Abby Butler wrote, “KARLOU knows how to nail a pitch perfect pop song. That chorus, in particular, is so well written and so well constructed”.
Solidifying their mark in the music industry, KARLOU has honed their craft to discover a sound that sets them apart and is a rising artist to be reckoned with. Recalibrating and writing an abundance of work, KARLOU is charged to drop new music sporadically throughout the year.
