With her alluring lyrics and hazy but edgy, vocal tones, KARLOU combines indie-pop artist’s influences of Girl in Red and MAY-A. The project, KARLOU, came to life in 2019 when the first single, ‘Bad Choices’ was released. Since then, the Sunshine Coast songstress has indulged herself in sweet nostalgic pop hooks and weaving sonic melodies, preparing herself for the latest release of her single, ‘Lovesick’. OUT JULY 16.
Through unapologetic lyrics, KARLOU delves into elements and explores themes of adolescence, young love, mental health and heartbreak in her songs. Having worked alongside, Producer/Writer Tom Eggert (MTNS, Golden Vessel, Vancouver Sleep Clinic), KARLOU offers a LGBTQ+ anthem in her latest track, ‘Lovesick’. Riddled with addictive melodies and catchy hooks, this indie pop track ventilates the love from her own relationship.
Although 2020 seemed to be a slow burner of a year, KARLOU followed through with the release of ‘Closer’ which premiered on Triple J Unearthed and received airplay on respected Australian Radio stations, including Triple J. With the release of ‘Closer’, KARLOU hosted a launch show which tickets SOLD OUT in two days.
Most recently, KARLOU supported The Rubens in a SOLD OUT show, in her hometown of Mackay. Loading up for a busy year, KARLOU has announced a Sunshine Coast show for her ‘Lovesick’ release which will take place at Moffat Beach Brewing Co (Production House) on JULY 23. TICKETS on PRESALE JUNE 28.
